AUCKLAND'S ORIGINAL ROCK STATION
Radio Hauraki is the most famous radio
station in New Zealand. The station's history dates back over 30
years to when four young men set up a transmission ship outside
the three-mile limit and began broadcasting to a swiftly growing
city of half a million people! On September 26, 1970, Radio Hauraki
became the first radio station in the world to obtain a land-based
operating licence.
